August 19, 2008 – Tryouts for the Truman Softball team will be Sept. 3-5 at the Truman Softball field. Those wishing to participate must provide proof of a physical taken within the last six months.
Aug. 14, 2008 – The Truman Baseball and Softball squads will both host Alumni games on Saturday, September 13th at 10:00 a.m. All former Bulldog baseball and softball players are invited to participate.
May 13, 2008 – Senior Christen Belcher was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association all-America squad. Belcher was named to the third team at-large after earning two all-region team mentions following her record breaking season.
May 1, 2008 – The Truman softball team was eliminated at the MIAA Softball tournament on Thursday afternoon in Shawnee, Kan. The Bulldogs lost 1-0 to Northwest Missouri State and 6-0 to Central Missouri. Truman’s season ends with a 22-21 record.
May 1, 2008 – Senior Christen Belcher was voted the MIAA Player of the Year by league coaches at the conference tournament on Thursday. Belcher was joined on the first-team all-conference by fellow senior Katie Noski, who was selected as a utility player.
Apr. 29, 2008 – Senior Christen Belcher has been named the MIAA Softball Hitter of the Week after leading the Bulldogs to a pair of victories and becoming the MIAA career leader in stolen bases. Belcher and the Bulldogs will take on Northwest Missouri in the first round of the MIAA Softball Championships on Thursday at noon in Shawnee, Kan.
Apr. 27, 2008 – The Bulldog softball team won both games on Sunday. Truman defeated Augustana 3-0 and Minnesota-Duluth 3-2. In addition, Christen Belcher picked up her MIAA record breaking 153rd career stolen base.
April 21, 2008 – Senior outfielder Christen Belcher tied the MIAA career stolen base mark while two other seniors, Katie Jeannin and Katie Noski, pitched complete game shutouts, as the Bulldog softball squad picked up two big wins Monday afternoon against Missouri Southern. The Bulldogs won game one, 2-0, before taking game two, 3-0.
April 20, 2008 – The Bulldog softball squad played nationally-ranked and MIAA-leading Emporia State close twice on Sunday afternoon, but a pair of leads didn’t hold, as the Lady Hornets rallied to grab a 2-1 decision in game one before finishing off the sweep by taking game two, 3-1. The Bulldogs will meet Missouri Southern on Monday afternoon for its final MIAA doubleheader of the season at 2:00 pm.
Apr. 19, 2008 – The Truman softball team was two outs away from a doubleheader sweep over Pittsburg State but the Gorillas were able to come back and earn the split in the conference twinbill. The Bulldogs took game one 5-2 but lost the nightcap 8-5. Truman will host Emporia State on Sunday.
Apr. 16, 2008 – The Bulldog softball team got a strong pitching performance from Katie Noski in the first game and rallied for an extra inning win in the nightcap to claim a doubleheader sweep over Missouri Western on Wednesday. Truman, now 17-16 overall and 5-7 in the MIAA, will host Pittsburg State and Emporia State this weekend.
Apr. 14, 2008 – The Truman softball team split in an MIAA twinbill with Southwest Baptist on Monday afternoon in Kirksville. The Bulldogs took the first game 2-0, while falling 6-5 in the nightcap.
Apr. 5, 2008 – Fort Hays State managed two come from behind victories over the Truman softball team on Saturday afternoon in Hays, Kan. The Bulldogs lost 2-1 in the opener and 8-7 in the nightcap. Truman is now 14-15 overall and 2-6 in the MIAA and will play Missouri Western on Tuesday in St. Joseph.
Apr. 4, 2008 – Christen Belcher went 7-of-8 with six runs scored in the softball’s doubleheader sweep over Washburn on Friday afternoon in Topeka, Kan. The Bulldogs won 7-4 in eight innings and 9-0. Truman will face Fort Hays State on Saturday.
Apr. 2, 2008 – The Bulldog softball team was swept at home in an MIAA twinbill by Northwest Missouri. The Bearcats came from behind to win 4-3 in extra innings in the first game and won 3-0 in the nightcap. Truman will head to Washburn and Fort Hays State this weekend.
Mar. 30, 2008 – The Truman softball team rebounded with two wins on Sunday at the Nebraska-Omaha tournament. The Bulldogs went 2-3 in Omaha and will host Northwest Missouri on Wednesday in an MIAA twinbill beginning at 2:00 p.m.
March 25, 2008 – After playing more than a month of non-conference games, the Truman softball team kicked off MIAA play Wednesday with a double-header at the University of Central Missouri. The Bulldogs dropped both ends of the twinbill, losing the opener 4-0 before falling victim to a walk-off homerun in the bottom of the seventh in a 5-3 game two loss.
Mar. 21, 2008 – The bats came alive for the Truman softball team as they salvaged the final game of a four-game series with Southwest Minnesota State on Friday in Kirksville. Truman lost the first game 5-3 but pounded out season-high 16 hits in a 10-3 win.
Mar. 20, 2008 – The Truman Bulldogs were swept in a pair of close ballgames by Southwest Minnesota State on Thursday afternoon in Kirksville. The Bulldogs lost 2-0 in eight innings and 5-4 in the nightcap. Truman will again play the Mustangs on Friday beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Mar. 16, 2008 – The Truman softball team improved to 9-3 with a three-game sweep at the Emporia State tournament over the weekend. The Bulldogs will open MIAA play against Central Missouri on Wednesday in Warrensburg, before coming home to face Southwest Minnesota State. (Katie Noski)
