Jan. 30, 2010 – Three Bulldog wrestlers, including Loyde Braidlow’s fourth place finish, highlighted the Truman Wrestling team’s competition at the Pete Wilson/Wheaton College (
Braidlow, seeded fifth in the 285-pound weight class, picked up two one-point victories in his first matches of the day as he won 2-1 and then 4-3 over fourth ranked Adam Sutter of
In the wrestleback semis, Braidlow won 4-2 but in a rematch with Sutter in the third place bout, Braidlow was edged 2-1.
Ryan Banning (133) picked up the most wins on the day for a Bulldog with five and took seventh place in his weight class. Banning was pinned in his second match of the day but reeled off three straight wins before falling to #2 Ethan Harris (
Alex Maus (149) also got a hot streak going after a tough opening draw. Maus had to face top seeded Craig Becker (UW-Parkside) in his first match of the day. Becker was an All-American last season while finishing fourth in the nation and is the defending regional champion.
Maus lost by major to Becker but then won his next four matches with three by fall. He was defeated in the wrestlback quarters 4-3 and lost in the seventh place match to finish 4-3 on the day and eighth overall.
Dean Schultz (174), Chad Kurvoski (184) and Zach Hayes (197) each went 2-2 on the day as well.
Truman finished 15th out of 30 teams at the tournament.
