Nov. 3, 2009 (KIRKSVILLE, Mo.) – After taking a 1-0 lead into the break, the 19th-ranked Truman men’s soccer team blitzed the Hannibal-LaGrange Trojans with three goals in the first 12 minutes of the second half en route to a 4-1 win on Tuesday afternoon.

 

Freshman Andy Chapman scored twice, and sophomore Jonathan Brown added a goal and two assists for the Bulldogs (12-3-1). Senior Drew Pauk also scored for Truman, who will now wait for the NCAA tournament bracket release next Monday afternoon. As of Tuesday, the Bulldogs were third in the South Central region with the top two teams receiving playoff berths.

 

Chapman’s goals came in the 37th and 57th minutes and were both assisted by Brown, who got on the board himself in the 47th minute. Pauk’s tally came off a cross from fellow senior Matt Taylor in the 56th minute.

 

Truman out-shot HLG, 33-12, on the afternoon, though the only Trojan (11-5-1) shot on goal came off a free kick in the 72nd minute that resulted in a goal. 21 players saw action for Truman in the match, with 12 of the 19 position players recording a shot.
