Oct. 31, 2009 – The Truman women’s soccer team was held scoreless for only the second time this season on Saturday night, but unlike the first time which resulted in a scoreless draw, Central Missouri scored once in each half to snap the Bulldogs’ 11-match winning streak with a 2-0 decision in Warrensburg.

Melanie Hall scored an unassisted goal in the 20th minute to get UCM (10-5-2, 9-3-1 MIAA) on the board before Kelsie Hanson scored her first goal of the season in the 58th minute off a pass from Cara Hennahane for an insurance tally.

The Bulldogs (13-3-2, 12-2 MIAA) were out-shot, 9-8, by the Jennies and put just two shots on goal in the match. Meanwhile, Truman keeper Jayne Grisham was tested six times in 75 minutes of work, stopping six shots before Alison Taylor entered for the final 15 minutes and didn’t face a UCM attempt.

Katie Reuck and Riley Mahn each had two shots for the purple and white, while Mahn and Olivia Hayes each put one shot on net.

The loss marked the first for Truman since Sept. 12, as the ’Dogs had pieced together an 11-match winning streak in MIAA play up to Saturday night. Truman now sits one point behind Nebraska-Omaha in the conference standings with two matches to play for each squad. UNO travels to Southwest Baptist before ending the season at UCM, while the Bulldogs host Missouri Western on Tuesday before heading to Emporia State on Thursday afternoon.

Truman will battle the MWSU Griffons on Tuesday at 12 pm in Kirksville at the Truman Soccer Pitch.
