CoSIDA Women’s Academic All-District

Oct. 30, 2009 – Five Truman women’s soccer players were named to the ESPN the Magazine College Division Academic All-District teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and released Friday. A pair of sophomores, Megan Buri and Amy Schnoes, headlined the Bulldog selections with first-team accolades.

Buri (Parkville, Mo.; Park Hill South HS) and Schnoes (Omaha, Neb.; Millard South) picked up first-team honors, as both have recorded 4.0 GPA’s so far at Truman. Buri, an all-MIAA selection last season, has two goals and four assists so far in 2009, while Schnoes has been part of a back line that has surrendered just nine goals in 17 games this season.

The two first-team selections mark the fifth and sixth all-time first-team all-district honorees for the Truman women’s soccer program.

In addition, three seniors, Katie Reuck (Jacksonville, Ill.; Jacksonville HS), Theresa Bauler (Naperville, Ill.; Naperville Central) and Isabel Gaeta (Naperville, Ill.; Neuqua Valley) were named to the second- (Reuck and Bauler) and third- (Gaeta) teams. Reuck has scored five goals, while all three have recorded three assists this season. Gaeta has also scored twice, and Bauler also has contributed on a defense that has a goals-against average of 0.51.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at her institution and be nominated by her sports information office. The Bulldogs are members the College Division’s District VII, which combines schools from the upper Midwest in Divisions II, III and NAIA.

Truman comprised five of the 12 total MIAA student-athletes named to one of the three academic all-district teams, with both the Bulldogs and Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks getting two picks on the first-team.

As a result of their first-team Academic All-District recognition, both Buri and Schnoes will advance for consideration on the Academic All-America team, which is released in late November.
