Oct. 15, 2009 – Both Truman soccer teams stayed put in the second regional rankings of the fall season, as released Tuesday and Wednesday by the NCAA. The Bulldog men (9-2-1) continued to hold the No. 2 spot in the South Central region, while the women’s squad (10-2-2) was listed at No. 6 in the South Central region once again.

The men’s national tournament takes the top-two from the South Central region and has the Bulldogs behind West Texas A&M (10-1-1) but in front of Midwestern (Texas) State (9-1-2) and Incarnate Word (Texas) (5-3-3). Truman defeated UIW, 3-2, in San Antonio, Texas, on Sept. 18.

Of note, the rankings were released prior to Truman's 1-0 loss to Lewis (Ill.) University on Wednesday afternoon.

On the women’s side, the top-six teams in each region are selected for post-season play. Three MIAA squads are in the top-ten, headed by the Bulldogs at No. 6, followed by Nebraska-Omaha at No. 7 and Central Missouri at No. 8. Truman split the regular season series with UNO, while the Bulldogs and Jennies will play once more after a 2-1 Truman win in Kirksville on Monday, Oct. 12.

The post-season for each squad begins with first-round play on Friday, Nov. 13 at a campus site.
