Oct. 14, 2009 – The Truman women’s cross country team has entered the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association national rankings. The Bulldogs are 16th in the nation and third in the South Central region.
The Bulldog bolstered their ranking with a third place finish at the GLVC/MIAA Challenge last weekend in Rolla. The defeated previously #17 Pittsburg State and was closely behind #3 Missouri Southern and #13 Southern Indiana in the race results.
Truman is ranked third in the latest South Central regional poll and the second MIAA school behind Missouri Southern. Dallas Baptist is second while Pittsburg State and Fort Hays State are fourth and fifth respectively.
Sophomore Dani Dell’Orco, who finished fourth at the Challenge last week, will lead the young Bulldog squad into the MIAA Championship meet next Saturday in Emporia, Kan. Ten of the 12 runners on the roster are either sophomores or juniors.
The men’s team was eighth in this week’s south central regional poll by the USTFCCCA.
