Oct. 8, 2009 – A six-match unbeaten streak guided the Truman women’s soccer team to a No. 6 ranking in the first official NCAA South Central regional poll, released Wednesday.
The Bulldogs (8-2-2) lead four MIAA teams in the top-10, as Nebraska-Omaha (No. 7), Central Missouri (No. 8) and Washburn (No. 9) also were listed in the first regional poll of 2009. The top-six teams from the MIAA, Lone Star and Heartland conferences will qualify for the NCAA tournament in November.
The Truman women’s soccer team has qualified for the NCAA postseason seven times, with six appearances coming since 2001. The Bulldogs reached the National Quarterfinals last season before falling, 1-0, to the eventual national champions, Seattle Pacific University.
The next weekly poll will be released on Wednesday, Oct. 14, with the NCAA tournament bracket being unveiled on Monday, Nov. 9.
