Sept. 25, 2009 – Joey Walls was the first collegiate runner to cross the finish line and the Bulldogs women’s team ran away with their third team title in as many meets as Truman’s Cross Country teams competed at the Brissman-Lundeen event hosted by Augustana (
Led by a second place finish by Dani Dell’Orco, Truman had six runners in the top 15 and four in the top ten to score 36 points.
Dell’Orco finished third overall in the race with a time of 19:28.4. Anne Ratermann was sixth (20:20.6), Karen Grauel was eighth (20:32.8), Cindy Grauel was 11th (20:40.9), Michelle Gronemeyer placed 12th (20:46.3) and Kylie Raithel was 15th (20:54.1).
Walls followed two unattached runners to a photo finish as he was just 1.6 seconds behind race winner Andrew McGuire. Walls’ time was 25:32.6.
Truman was fifth in the 26 team field and scored 143 points. Adam Kell was the second Truman runner across the line in 22nd position with a time of 26:06.8.
Bob Gorman and John Venner crossed in 43rd and 44th place respectively with the same time of 26:37.1. Mike Dial rounded out the scorers for Truman with his 52nd place finish in 26:48.5.
The Bulldogs reach the halfway point of the season with the conclusion of the meet in
Truman will compete in the GLVC/MIAA Challenge on Oct. 10th which will lead up to the MIAA Championships on Oct. 24th and the NCAA South Central Regional on Nov. 7th.
