Round 1 Results ~ Pairings

Sept. 14, 2009 – Seven schools are within 10 shots after the first day of the Bulldog Classic at the Kirksville Country Club on Monday afternoon.  Washburn holds a six shot lead in the first MIAA scoring event and was led by Dustin Yaeger’s three-under par 68.

Truman and Central Missouri are tied for second after both teams shot a 293.  The Bulldogs were led by junior Chris Kovach, who turned in the second best round of the day at two-under 69.

Those three teams will be in the final groupings on Tuesday and will tee off beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Rockhurst (294), Missouri Western (295), Southwest Baptist (296) and Missouri Southern (297) are within striking distance with each school having players contending for the tournament lead.

Clark Fry (Rockhurst) and Bryan Steele (Southwest Baptist) had one-under 70 while two medalists, Luke Orf of Central Missouri and Riley Piles of Washburn also carded 70s but did not contribute to their school’s overall score.

Aaron Mapel (Fort Hays State) carded his first career ace with a hole-in-one on the 158-yard 14th hole.

Action will resume on Tuesday on both the first and 10th tees at 8:20 a.m.
