Sept. 11, 2009 – A balanced attack helped the Truman men’s soccer team pick up their fourth win in a row on Friday afternoon, as the Bulldogs cruised to a 4-0 win at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa.
Four different players – Nick Schlichtman, Andy Chapman, Bobby Larkin and Matt Kimball – each found pay-dirt for the purple and white, with Schlichtman and Chapman’s first-half goals aided by an assist from Jonathan Brown.
Truman nabbed two goals before the break, then added a pair following intermission to put away IWC. The Bulldogs (4-1) fired 24 shots to just five for the host Tigers and maintained pressure throughout with eight corner kicks.
Tyler Knierim and Danny Baker combined for the shutout in net for Truman, who have allowed just one goal in the last four matches.
The Bulldogs will be back in action next weekend when they travel to the Lone Star state for showdowns with 9th-ranked Incarnate Word and St. Edward’s on Friday and Sunday, Sept. 18th and 20th.
