Sept. 5, 2009 – Aided by junior Dan Meagher’s two goals, the Bulldog men’s soccer offense exploded in a 4-0 win against Christian Brothers (Tenn.) at the Quincy Soccer Bowl on Saturday afternoon.

Meagher got the ’Dogs on the board in the 14th minute after Andy Chapman – who received a long pass from Jack Randazzo – crossed the ball to the middle of the box. The 6-foot-4 junior forward then blasted it into the corner of the net to put Truman on top.

The score would stay the same until the 64th minute when Meagher found pay-dirt again, this time off a feed from Jonathan Brown nearly 25-yards out. Sophomore Matthew Sanderson notched his first collegiate goal in the 84th minute on a rebound off the post, before CBU sealed their own fate just seconds later with an own goal.

Redshirt freshman Tyler Knierim picked up his second straight shutout in goal by making two saves, while the offense placed pressure on the CBU defense the entire match by out-shooting the Bucs, 19-8 (7-2 on net).

The Bulldogs (2-1) will look to secure a perfect weekend at the Quincy Bowl on Sunday evening, as the purple and white will battle the host QU Hawks at 7:30 pm.
