July 10, 2009 – The Bulldog Track & Field teams were ranked highly in Division II on the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association all-Academic lists.  In addition, seven student-athletes were named to the association’s all-Academic teams.

The Truman men had the fifth best team grade-point (3.24) and were just one of 27 Division II school’s with a grade-point average of 3.0. 

In addition, Derek Atwood (Lee’Summit, Mo.), Alex Van Delft (Macon, Mo.) and Coedy Walker (Lee’s Summit, Mo.) earned the distinction of being all-Academic by the USTFCCA.  All three recorded a provisional or automatic NCAA Division II mark and had a cumulative grade point average over 3.25.

The women’s team was represented on the all-Academic team by Katrina Biermann (Liberty, Mo.), Shaina Dochterman (Kahoka, Mo.), Kortney Holeman (North Kansas City, Mo.) and Danna Kelly (Boone, Iowa).

As a whole, the Truman women’s squad posted the sixth highest grade-point average in Division II with a 3.45.  There were 64 women’s teams that qualified for the all-Academic list with a minimum grade-point average of 3.0.

The teams are coached by John Cochrane, Tim Schwegler and Leslie Hardesty.
