June 18, 2009 – Two current Truman wrestlers and one set to join the program for the 2009-2010 season competed at the Dollamur Corn Cob Nationals in Dubuque, Iowa, on Saturday, June 6th, and compiled a pair of first-place finishes and a second-place run.
Junior Andy Bader was a champion in the senior division of the 154-170 weight class by taking a pair of major decisions, while sophomore Zach Hayes picked up a second-place result in the 190 weight class senior division. Incoming Bulldog Ryan Banning held off all of his opponents and picked up a pin in his final match to pick up the 133 pound championship in the high school division.
The Truman wrestling program hosted Super Regional 2 in the 2009 NCAA Division II tournament and earned the 2008-09 Academic National Championship for the third consecutive season and fifth time in program history.
