June 10, 2009 – Junior men’s tennis student-athlete Peter Bracha has been selected as a third-team ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-American. Bracha was one of five Truman students from at-large sports forwarded to the national ballot after picking up first-team all-region accolades in late May.
Bracha (Ames, Iowa; Ames) was a combined 17-10 singles and doubles in 2009, while playing No. 1 singles and No. 2 doubles. He was a two-time selection to both the MIAA Presidential Scholar list and the Academic all-MIAA list and was also selected to the Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll after his sophomore year in 2008. Bracha earned his third straight honorable mention doubles award this past year with partner Steven Hipkiss.
The senior-to-be is studying Biology at Truman and boasts a perfect 4.00 grade point average. He was one of two student-athletes from the MIAA to be selected to an Academic All-America college team.
To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her school’s sports information office.
