May 21, 2009 – Both Bulldog Track & Field competitors advanced to their respective event finals on Thursday night at the NCAA Division II Championships in Angelo, Texas.  Shaina Dochterman ran the third fastest time in the 400 meter hurdles while Danna Kelly qualified ninth in the 3000 meter steeplechase.

 

Dochterman (Kahoka, Mo./Clark Co.), running in the second heat of the night, beat out Nikki Boston of J.C. Smith College and crossed the line first.  Her time of 1:00.95 has her third for the Saturday night finals behind Christine Merrill of UC-San Diego and Aisha Adams of host Angelo State.  Merrill ran 59.22 in the first heat.

 

Kelly (Boone, Iowa/Boone) crossed the line fifth but it was good enough to advance to the finals of the 3000 meter steeplechase.  Kelly finished the race in a time of 11:01.40.  Lisa Thomas, of Western State (Colo.) turned in the fastest time out of the two heats with a 10:49.90 mark.  Kelly will compete in the finals at 5:10 p.m. on Saturday night.

 

Friday’s action will feature Katrina Biermann (Liberty, Mo./Liberty) in the pole vault along with Alex Van Delft (Macon, Mo./Macon) and Derek Atwood (Lee's Summit, Mo./Lee's Summit North) competing in the shot put.
