May 3, 2009 – The Bulldog women’s track & field team earned a second place finish at the 2009 MIAA Outdoor Championships this weekend in
The team trailed the Lions by 18 points after the first day which saw Katrina Biermann break her own school record in the pole vault. Biermann shattered her record by vaulting 12-08.00 and also placed second in the triple jump with a mark of 38-00.00.
Ashley Bernard finished second in the shot put on the first day with a mark of 44-04.00.
In the second day, Kortney Holeman scored a first place finish in the discus with a mark of 131-09.
Amber Clayton qualified for both the 200 and 400 meter finals taking fifth and sixth respectively. Anne Raterman came just short of all-conference honors with a fourth place finish in the 800 with a time of 2:16.56.
Shaina Dochterman took second in the 400 meter hurdles, crossing the line in 1:00.56 in a tight race with Audrey Bailey of Northwest.
Danna Kelly ran away with the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 10:58.09 and came back for a fourth place finish in the 5000. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs,
In the final event of the meet, Truman’s 4x400 relay team took top honors with a two-second win over

Jacob Schrum and Matt Olson just missed all-conference accolades by finishing fourth in their events. Schrum timed at 1:54.98 in the 800 and Olson was 54.66 in the 400 meter hurdles.
Derek Atwood and Alex Van Delft were fifth and sixth respectively in the shot put.
Members of the team will compete next week at Emporia State Twilight meet next Saturday.
