KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Sophomore 1B/DH Bryce Bond knocked in four of Truman’s five runs on the day with a pair of RBI doubles, but the Missouri Western Griffons got two solid starting pitching performances in shutting down Truman baseball 5-3 and 11-2 on Saturday at the Bulldog Baseball Park.

Bond’s first RBI double in the fourth inning of game one drove in two to give Truman a brief 3-2 lead, while his second tied the score at 2-2 in the first inning of game two. The only other Bulldog offense on the day came courtesy of a Drew Garwood solo home run in game one.

Kyle Veazey (0-6) pitched 5.1 innings in game one, giving up five runs, while Michael Staihr (3-4) was saddled with the loss in game two after going 5.0 innings and giving up six runs.

Missouri Western got a complete game pitching performance out of A.J. Huttenlocker in game two – which saw him throw an incredible 160 pitches in the nine innings of work.

Truman (11-43, 7-31 MIAA) and Missouri Western (32-22, 20-16 MIAA) will each wrap up their respective regular seasons on Sunday afternoon with a 12 pm doubleheader at the Bulldog Baseball Park.
