QUINCY, Ill. – Freshman C Devon Myers connected on his second home run of the season and senior 3B Eric Mathews recorded a pinch-hit two-run single in the eighth, but Truman baseball fell behind 6-0 and dropped an 8-4 decision at Quincy University on Tuesday afternoon.

Freshman Tyler Stefan, who entered the game on a streak of 13 consecutive scoreless innings out of the bullpen, got the start for the Bulldogs (11-41) and gave up four earned runs in six innings. Andy Updike and Pete Johnson each pitched an inning of relief of Stefan, who fell to 1-2 on the season with the loss.

Offensively, Myers had a game-high three hits and scored twice, while junior OF Keaton Jones, freshman SS Steven Rose and senior OF Corey Eagen each tallied a pair of hits. However, outside of those four, the Bulldogs got just one hit from another starter, as QU (26-22) picked up a season-sweep of Truman in the Bulldogs’ final road contest of the year.

Truman will wrap up the regular season with a four-game series this weekend at home against Missouri Western. Saturday’s doubleheader will begin at 1 pm, while Sunday’s doubleheader finale will start at noon.
