After leaving three on base in the top of their half of the fifth, Truman allowed the Mules to pick up some momentum when leadoff hitter Chance Tuttle reached on a throwing error by freshman SS Steven Rose in the bottom of the fifth. Tuttle would come around to score prior to a three-run shot that tied the game at five apiece.
After the ’Dogs didn’t score in the sixth, UCM tacked on two more runs and forced Truman to go 1-2-3 in their half of the seventh for a 7-5 Mule victory in game one.
In game two, UCM scored single runs in the first, third and fourth to go up 3-0 before sophomore OF Kenny Swanson brought sophomore 1B Bryce Bond around to cut the deficit to 3-1. Central, though, added a run in their half of the fifth and two more in the sixth prior to a single run for the Bulldogs in the seventh for the 6-2 final score.
