KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – The Truman men’s tennis team picked up a key 8-1 conference win, while the women’s squad’s comeback came up just short against Nebraska-Omaha on Saturday morning at the Truman Tennis Courts.

The Bulldog men (6-3, 2-2 MIAA) got wins at all but No. 1 doubles – including five straight-set wins in singles play – to hand UNO (5-8, 0-4 MIAA) the loss. Peter Bracha, Steven Hipkiss and Eric McCullough all went 2-0 for the ’Dogs on the day.

On the women’s side, UNO (8-8, 5-2 MIAA) won three close doubles matches to take an early 3-0 lead, but Truman (13-3, 5-2 MIAA) stormed back and took four singles matches. However, straight set wins at Nos. 1 and 5 helped the Mavs end up on top in the key conference and regional match. Courtney Walther and Kelsey Kuykendall came back after doubles losses to win their singles matches in straight sets.

The two squads will be back in action this Tuesday in a make-up from Friday’s rained out match against Northwest Missouri State at 4 pm. Tuesday’s matches will mark the final home matches of the season for Truman.
