KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – Straight set wins up and down the board guaranteed the Truman women’s tennis team its second straight winning MIAA campaign on Wednesday afternoon, as the Bulldogs swept Missouri Western, 9-0, at the Truman tennis courts.

For the first time since the 2001-2002 seasons, Truman wrapped up a +.500 conference mark by picking up their fifth MIAA win of the year on a mild Wednesday. The Bulldogs (13-2, 5-1 MIAA) wrap up conference play this weekend by hosting Northwest Missouri and Nebraska-Omaha.

Truman got off to a fast start in doubles play, as the purple and white surrendered just one out of 25 games played to take a quick 3-0 lead. From there, all six Truman netters garnered straight-set wins in singles play to wrap up the 9-0 win.

Sophomore Kelsey Kuykendall didn’t drop a single game on Wednesday, picking up an 8-0 No. 3 doubles win before taking a 6-0, 6-0 decision at No. 6 singles. In addition, sophomore Amy Ochs and freshman Ellen Russell teamed up for an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles before each recording 6-1, 6-1 wins in their respective singles matches.

The Bulldogs are currently ranked 11th in the South Central region and are set to wrap up both the MIAA and home portions of their spring schedule this weekend.
