KIRKSVILLE, Mo. – A clean sweep from top to bottom for the women and three straight wins from the bottom half of the singles lineup for the men highlighted a pair of Truman tennis wins on Wednesday afternoon against Missouri Valley College.  The Bulldog women won 9-0, while the men held on for a 6-3 victory.

It was all Truman in the women’s match, as the Bulldogs didn’t drop a single set in any of the nine matches to move to 11-1 overall on the season. Sophomore Amy Ochs highlighted the day – dropping just five total games in singles and doubles play - by partnering with freshman Ellen Russell for an 8-1 doubles win before winning her No. 3 singles match, 6-4, 6-0.

On the men’s side, Truman picked up an early 3-0 lead through doubles play – which included a close 9-8 win at the No. 3 spot – before giving back the lead when Missouri Valley took the top three singles matches. However, the Bulldogs’ depth prevailed, as junior Ben Rusk and freshman Eric McCullough each wrapped up a 2-0 day by winning their singles matches to help Truman improve to 5-2 on the season.

The two squads will host Grand Valley (Mich.) State at the Truman tennis courts on Friday afternoon, with the matches starting at 3:30 pm.
