Men’s Results ~ Women’s Results

 

March 21, 2009 – The Bulldog Track & Field teams opened their outdoor season at the Central Methodist University Invite in Fayette, Missouri on Saturday.  The women won the meet by four points over Lindenwood, while the men finished third in the team standings.

 

Coedy Walker took two first place medals by sweeping the jump events.  Walker had a mark of 6.62m in the long jump and a 13.74m leap in the triple jump.

 

Adam Kell won the 1500 meter run in a time of 4:05.35 and the Truman 4x800 relay squad took first as well.

 

Other top finishes for the Bulldogs were Mike Reams in the Javelin (2nd - 40.11m), John Venner in the 3000 meter steeplechase (2nd – 10:29.20) and  Bob Gorman in the 5000 meter run (2nd – 15:48.40).

 

Truman had three runners score in both the 1500 and the 5000 and three throwers score points in the Hammer Throw.

 

Kortney Holeman turned in the first NCAA provisional mark on the outdoor season with a 45.49 toss in the Discus Throw.  Holeman took second in that event.

 

Danna Kelly won the 1500 meter run in a time of 4:47.99 as their were five Bulldogs in the top six in the race.  Elli Mathis won the 3000 meter steeplechase in a time of 12:38.32.

 

Other winners for the Bulldogs on Saturday were Katrina Biermann in the triple jump (11.37m), Ashley Bernard in the Hammer Throw (47.60m) and the 4x400 meter relay team.

 

Truman scored 179 points to take first place over Lindenwood University (Mo.) for the team time.

 

The teams will compete at Washington University’s Francis Field next Saturday in St. Louis.  Francis Field was the site of the 1904 St. Louis Summer Olympics.
