Mar. 4, 2009 – Ashley Bernard, Katrina Biermann and Shaina Dochterman will represent the Truman Indoor Track & Field team at the 2009 NCAA Division II Championships.  The trio will compete March 13-14 at the NCAA Winter Sports Festival in Houston, Texas.

 Senior Ashley Bernard (O’Fallon, Mo./Fort Zumwalt South) is 11th in the shot put after her season-best mark of 45-05.75 (13.87m) that came last weekend at the MIAA Indoor Championships.  Bernard finished second in conference and will be making her indoor championship appearance.  Bernard finished 17th in the Hammer throw at the 2008 Outdoor Track & Field Championships.

Junior Katrina Biermann (Liberty, Mo./Liberty) returns to the indoor championship in a new event this year.  Biermann qualified 11th in the pole vault after her school record mark of 12-04.00 (3.76m) at the Illinois College Blue Classic on Feb. 7th.  Biermann finished 11th in the triple jump at last year’s championships.

Junior Shaina Dochterman (Kahoka, Mo./Clark County) will head to Houston following her second place finish at conference in the 400 meter dash.  Dochterman had the sixth fastest time in Division II last weekend and will take her 56.79 time into her first national indoor meet.  She placed 12th in the prelims in the 400 hurdles during last year’s outdoor championship.
