March 2, 2009 - The MIAA released its all-conference teams for the 2008-09 women’s basketball season on Monday, and senior forward Georgia Mueller (Springfield, Ill.) capped her career with a second-team selection. It marked her third consecutive all-conference pick.

The 5-foot-11 senior averaged 16.9 points and 7.5 rebounds per game this season, which were both team-highs. Mueller ranked second in the MIAA in scoring, behind only first-team selection Janice Bright of Washburn, and fourth in rebounding.

She also ranked in the MIAA’s top-ten in field goal percentage (.541; 3rd), free throw percentage (.779; 8th), blocked shots (1.50; 5th) and defensive rebounds (5.27; 4th).

Mueller finished her career as Truman’s second all-time scorer with 1,897 points and third-best rebounder with 876 rebounds. She will also be inked in as the MIAA’s eighth-best rebounder and joins Truman’s all-time top rebounder, Felicia Sutton, as the only two Bulldogs on the list.

Her 195 career blocked shots is nearly 90 more than Jennifer Perkins’ second-best Truman mark, and she finished just two assists shy (246) of eighth all-time as a Bulldog.

Already this season, Mueller was named to the ESPN The Magazine College Division Academic All-District second-team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). She is also a two-time member of the MIAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll with this season’s list yet to be released.

Emporia State senior Ida Edwards (14.3 ppg, 10.2 rpg) was chosen as the league MVP and was one of two (Bright) to be named to the first-team unanimously. Bright (18.6 ppg) and Edwards were joined on the first-team by Fort Hays State junior Erica Biel (16.4 ppg, 11.3 rpg), Emporia State junior Cassondra Boston (14.8 ppg, 4.2 apg) and Pittsburg State junior Nicole McCombs (15.8 ppg, 7.4 rpg).

The Truman women’s basketball team went 8-19 in 2008-09 and tied for eighth place in the MIAA with a 5-15 conference mark.
