Feb. 7, 2009 – The Truman Track & Field teams won 14 events at the Illinois College Blue Classic on Saturday in Jacksonville, Ill.  Ashley Bernard and Katrina Biermann each won two events.

 

Biermann turned in season-best marks in both the pole vault and triple jump.  In the vault, Biermann topped 12-04.00 and in the triple jump leaped 38-02.25 which were provisional marks in both events.

 

Jennifer Zweifel also earned a provisional mark in the triple jump with her leap of 36-03.50 and took second to Biermann.

 

Bernard topped Tessa Letuli in a pair of throwing events.  Bernard won the shot in 42-06.75 and the weight in 51-05.75.

 

Other event winners on the women’s side were Amber Clayton in the 400, Anne Ratermann in the 800 and Shaina Dochterman in the 55 meter hurdles.

 

All three Truman relay teams took first place as well.

 

On the men’s side, Coedy Walker made a provisional mark while taking second place in the long jump.  Walker leaped 23-02.75 and also took first in the triple jump with a mark of 45-11.75.

 

Derek Atwood edged out teammate Alex Van Delft in the shot put.  Atwood threw 49-09 to Van Delft’s 49-02.25.  Dan Jones was second in the weight throw with a mark of 50-00.00.

 

On the track, the Bulldog distance medley team took first with a time of 10:35.62 and Josh Mantooth was first in the mile run, crossing the line in 4:24.60.

 

John Venner was second in the 5000 meter run with a time of 16:20.32.

 

The Bulldogs will at the Knox Invitational in Galesburg, Ill. next Saturday.
