Jan. 31, 2009 – Loyde Braidlow took sixth as the Bulldog wrestling team competed at the Pet Willson Wrestling Invitational hosted by Wheaton College.  The team will compete against Missouri Baptist on Wednesday in St. Louis.

 

Braidlow was the fifth seeded wrestler in the 285 pound weight class and won his first match by pin fall at the 1:49 mark.  In the quarterfinals, Braidlow was defeated by the fourth-seeded Dan Laurent (UW-LaCrosse) 10-0.

 

In the wrestlebacks, Braidlow knocked out eighth seeded Chase Campbell (Wheaton) by fall and Jon Treml (UW-Parkside) 6-3 before being sent to the fifth place match by #3 Jon Schmidt (UW-Whitewater) 3-2.  He lost the fifth place bout to top seeded Mark Corsello (Elmhurst) 8-0.

 

Alex Maus picked up five team points with two pin fall victories in the 141-pound weight class while James Crone (125) and Chad Kurvoski (189) scored 1.5 points.

 

The Bulldogs will compete against only Missouri Baptist in a dual on Wednesday in St. Louis.  The previously scheduled dual with Lindenwood on the same day was cancelled.  Truman will also participate at the Missouri Valley Open in Marshall next Saturday.
