Jan. 25, 2009 – Junior Loyde Braidlow won three and Alex Maus won a pair of matches as the Bulldog wrestling team competed in the UCM Dual Jamboree in Warrensburg on Sunday.  Truman was shutout in the team competition loosing all four duals.

 

Braidlow (285) started the day with a forfeit win in Truman’s 27-18 loss to Newman.  Maus was a 9-5 winner at 141 over John Hagan and James Crone also picked up a 5-1 win at 125.  Warren Galloway was a forfeit winner at 197 for the other Bulldog points.

 

Truman faced the fourth-ranked Lopers of Nebraska-Kearney in round two and were defeated 49-0.  Maus and Andy Swedenhjelm (285) were the only Bulldogs to lose by decision.

 

Maus picked up a 7-2 win and Braidlow returned to the mat for a 10-4 victory but that wasn’t enough for the Bulldogs against #12 Wisconsin-Parkside.  The Rangers won the match 47-6

 

In the nightcap, Truman got forfeit wins from Kaz Hashimoto (125) and Steve Kueny (149), picked up an 8-5 victory by Dean Schultz (174) and a 9-6 win by Braidlow.  However the University of Mary scored a victory by pinfall at 197 to put the dual out of reach and won 25-18.

 

The Bulldogs will be at the Wheaton College Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Wheaton, Ill.
