Nov. 8, 2008 – The Bulldog cross country teams competed at the NCAA South Central regional on Saturday in San Antonio, Texas. The women finished fifth while the men came in 11th. Danna Kelly will advance to the national meet with a fourth place finish.
Kelly crossed in 21.23.7 and due to an NCAA qualification will advance to the NCAA Division II Championships on November 22nd in Slippery Rock, Pa. The top three teams and top two highest placing individuals advance, however with Abilene Christian placing ninth and having two of the top three runners, Kelly gets in by placing in the top five.
Kelly finished behind Loice Cheboi of ACU who crossed in a time of 21.21.4.
Michelle Gronemeyer was the second women’s runner to finish the race coming in 25th position in a time of 22:49.
Josh Mantooth was first among the Truman men with a time of 30:05 and 37th place. Bob Gorman was 39th with a time of 33:14.
Missouri Southern, Midwestern State and Pittsburg State will advance on the women’s side while Abilene Christian, Missouri Southern and Southwest Baptist on the men’s side.
