Nov. 4, 2008 – Junior swimmer Kate Aherne was named the Division II Women’s Swimmer of the Week by Collegeswimming.com after a strong showing at last week’s quadrangular meet at the University of Indianapolis.

Aherne (Cary, Ill./Cary Grove) earned two “B” cuts  while taking first place in the 200 free in a tiem of 1:53.43 and swimming 52.19 in the 100 free event .  She was also on the winning team of the 400 medley relay squad.

In the second day of the meet, Aherne won the 200 individual medley with an “A” cut time of 2:07.31 and the 100 backstroke in a “B” cut time of 59.50. 

The Bulldogs won five out of the six matches at the University of Indianapolis by defeating Ashland (Ohio), Indianapolis twice and going 1-1 against Wayne State (Mich.).

Aherne and the Truman swimmers will have their first home meet of the season when they host Nebraska-Omaha and Missouri State on Saturday at the Pershing Natatorium.  The meet begins at 2:00 p.m.
