Oct. 7, 2008 – The Bulldog men’s golf team had the second lowest round on Tuesday and jumped up three spots to fourth at the Southwest Baptist Fall Tournament in Bolivar, Mo.  Scott Danielsen and Chris Kovach tied for 10th.

Truman shot 310 in the first round after battling strong winds and light rain.  The Bulldogs were in a tight group of teams, trailing fifth place by five shots but ahead of 14th place by just four strokes.

Kovach turned in the Bulldogs lowest round on day one with a four-over par 76, followed by Danielsen’s 77 and Michael Spaulding’s 77.

The Bulldogs used “moving day” to do just that as they were able to jump three spots and improve by 17 strokes in similar weather conditions.  Danielsen finished with a two-under 70, while Kovach was one-under with a 71 and both tied for 10th overall.

The Bulldogs wrapped up the fall season in fourth place in the MIAA standings as SBU’s tournament was the final scoring event.  Central Missouri leads with the maximum 16 points with Missouri Southern second with 12, Washburn third with 10.5 and the Bulldogs with 10.

Points are awarded on an 8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis in the three regular season conference events and doubled in the conference championship tournament in April.
