Sept. 15, 2008 – The Truman men’s golf team finished fifth overall and fourth out of MIAA schools, at the Pittsburg State Invitational.  Three Bulldogs placed in the top 12 with Chris Kovach leading the way with a one-under par 143 two-day score.

 

Scott Danielsen turned in a two-under 70 during the first round on Monday.  Danielsen had six birdies on the day and was tied for the clubhouse lead.  He finished with a three-over 75 on Tuesday and placed in a tie for 12th.

 

Also finishing tied for 12th was Michael Spaulding who put together rounds of 75-70. 

 

Kovach, last year’s conference freshman of the year, had a one-over 73 in his first 18 holes and at one point Tuesday was three-under before bogies on 15 and 18.  Kovach tied for seventh overall and was six back of the medalist, Justin Yoder, of Central Missouri.

 

As a team, the Bulldogs shot 297 on day one and improved to 292 in the final round.  Truman finished behind Central, Washburn and Missouri Southern in the conference results, as this was the first of three regular season conference scoring events.  Overall, the Bulldogs finished one shot behind Lincoln for fifth place but was three shots clear of host Pittsburg State.

 

Truman will be in Springfield, Mo. for the Drury Panther Invitational on Sept. 29-30th.
