July 31, 2008 – Truman Wrestling Coach David Schutter was honored with the Bob Bubb Coaching Excellence Award by the National Wrestling Coaches Association. Schutter’s Bulldogs earned their second national academic championship in as many years and also had their sixth straight year with an NCAA All-American.
The award is presented annually to one coach across each division of collegiate wrestling. It is intended for an outstanding coach who epitomizes the qualities and characteristics of a role model and mentor for developing young student-athletes.
“I’d like to thank the NWCA for this honor,” said Coach Schutter. “I especially would like to thank everyone that has been involved with the Truman State University Wrestling program in anyway over my coaching career. Donors, parents, team members, scholarship workers, athletic trainers, administrators and my family because each and every person has contributed in someway to help bring this honor to Bulldog Wrestling.”
