Large Signing Class For Truman Wrestling

June 12, 2008 – Truman wrestling coach David Schutter has announced that nine student-athletes will be joining next year’s squad.
“The 2008 signing class is very good and I am very excited about the quality of this group” said Schutter.
“We have been able to get wrestlers that are talented enough to help us win the MIAA Duals in February, the Midwest Regional in March and numbers that will provide us excellent depth and competition at all positions.”
The Bulldogs will begin their season on Saturday, November 1st when they will travel to the interstate rival
Truman will be part of the MIAA Duals on Sunday, February 15 hosted by
Truman will also play host in 2009 to the NCAA DII Midwest Regional on Sunday, March 1. Nine teams will be competing in the Midwest Regional including three from the MIAA.
Alex Maus –
Maus posted 186 career wins and placed 3rd at 135-lbs at the Georgia State Tournament in class 5A with 65-5 record his senior season. In 2007, Maus placed 4th at state with record of 58-11 and went 9-0 at NHSCA National Duals that summer.

Zach Hayes –
Hayes placed 4th at 215-lbs. at the 2008 Class 3A Missouri High School State Championship for
Schutter on Hayes: “I have been high on Zach Hayes since the fall. As time has progressed I have become more and more impressed with Zach. He is an outstanding upperweight, who moves well and likes physical contact. After seeing him wrestle live, I like his toughness and physicality.”
James Crone –
Crone is a two-time Illinois AA Class state qualifier. He posted a record of 36-6 this season at 119-lbs.
Schutter on Crone: “James is a intelligent wrestler who competes with a “never quit” attitude. He is big enough to wrestle at 133-lbs. if needed next season but his future is most likely at 125-lbs. for the Bulldogs. James understands what it takes to be a champion through his nutrition and training habits.”
Maxwell Muench –
Muench placed 6th in the 189 pound weight class at the Class 3A

Damon Locke –
Locke was a Class 4A state qualifier at 189-lbs. for Park Hill South with a record 23-6.
Jeff Graber –
Graber placed 4th in 2008 at 171-lbs. with a record of 25-9 and placed 6th in 2007 in the 5A
Griesemer is a two-time state qualifier at 135-lbs. in Class 1.
Ben Barndollar –
Barndollar was a state qualifier at 215-lbs. with 22-6 record.
